BUDGET ALERT: Transparency is Dead in Wappingers Falls

BUDGET ALERT: Transparency is Dead in Wappingers Falls

The Village Board is about to vote on a 2026-2027 budget that the public has never actually seen.

At the April 7th public hearing, the Board presented a “tentative budget” that was nothing more than a copy-and-paste of last year’s numbers. They asked for your input on a placeholder document while, behind closed doors, they were making “significant increases” and changes to the actual budget they intend to pass.

The Broken Promise of Transparency

Mayor Huber – Trustee Niznik – Trustee Chiumento – Trustee McCormick – Trustee Tyliszczak – Trustee Vanca all ran on platforms of improving transparency and being accountable to the taxpayers. Instead, they have delivered the most secretive governing board this village has ever seen.

  • Zero Transparency: We were forced to comment on a “fake” budget while the real numbers remain hidden.
  • Total Secrecy: Significant spending increases are being decided in the dark.
  • Silence: They are ignoring the questions and demands of the very citizens who pay their salaries.

Why This Matters

The Board is legally required to adopt the final budget by May 1st. That means they are planning to vote on your tax dollars without ever giving you the chance to see the actual, revised numbers or voice your opinion on the new spending.

Demand Accountability NOW.

Contact the Village Clerk or email the Board members today. Demand that they release the “as-revised” budget to the public BEFORE they take a final vote. We deserve to see where our money is going.
